Equipment

  • Blender
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tapioca flour also known as tapioca starch
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated cheese Parmesan or a blend works best
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: herbs or spices e.g., garlic powder or oregano for added flavor

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures the bread bakes evenly and develops that beautiful golden crust.

Step 2: Blend the Ingredients

  • In my trusty blender, I add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and salt. I blend these together until smooth and well combined. This creates a lovely base for the dough.

Step 3: Mix in the Dry Ingredients

  • Next, I add the tapioca flour and baking powder directly into the blender. I pulse the blender a few times until the mixture is just combined. The texture should be thick but pourable.

Step 4: Incorporate the Cheese

  • Now comes the best part! I toss in the grated cheese (and any optional herbs or spices) and give it a quick blend to distribute the cheese throughout the dough.

Step 5: Prepare the Baking Sheet

  • I line my baking sheet with parchment paper for easy removal, but it’s not strictly necessary. Then, I use a spoon to drop tablespoon-sized amounts of the dough onto the sheet, leaving space between each one as they’ll puff up while baking.

Step 6: Bake

  • I pop the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese bread rolls puff up and turn a lovely golden brown.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

  • Once done, I remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. They’re best served warm, so I can’t resist digging in!

Notes

Feel free to customize your cheese bread! Experiment with different types of cheese or add in herbs to match your taste.
If you prefer a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or some diced jalapeños to the mix.
