Equipment

  • Bread machine
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cheese grater (if shredding your own cheese)
  • small bowl,

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast instant or bread machine yeast
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or your favorite kind
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • First, get your yeast and liquids ready. Pour warm water (around 110°F) into the bread machine pan. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about five minutes. You’ll know the yeast is alive and kicking when it starts to foam a bit.
  • Next, add the dry ingredients. Pour the bread flour right on top of the yeast mixture. Then sprinkle the sugar, salt, and minced garlic evenly over the flour.
  • Now, add the cheese and oil. Spread the shredded cheese over the flour, then pour the olive oil gently on top.
  • Put the bread pan into the machine. Choose the “Basic” or “White Bread” setting, pick how dark you want the crust (light, medium, or dark), and start it up.
  • The bread machine will take over from here mixing, kneading, letting the dough rise, and baking. This usually takes around three hours but depends on your machine.
  • When it’s done, carefully take the bread pan out. Remove the loaf and let it cool on a wire rack for about 15 to 20 minutes. This cooling time helps the bread set so it slices nicely.

Notes

For best results, use fresh yeast and make sure your water is not too hot or it can kill the yeast. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses like mozzarella, gouda, or pepper jack for varied flavors. You can also add herbs like rosemary or oregano for an extra touch.
