Preparing the Chocolate Layer

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your cake pan with parchment paper. Whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.

Assembling the Cake

  • Frost the outside and top with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings for a stunning finish.

Notes

Room Temperature Ingredients: For the best texture and consistency, make sure your butter, eggs, and milk are at room temperature before mixing the batter. This helps create a smoother, fluffier cake.

Use Fresh Strawberries: For the most vibrant flavor, use fresh, ripe strawberries for the puree. Avoid strawberry syrups or preserves, as they can alter the natural sweetness and texture of the frosting.
Customize Frosting Flavors: Feel free to adjust the flavor intensity of the frosting by adding more or less strawberry puree, cocoa powder, or vanilla extract to suit your taste. The frosting is versatile and can be made as rich or subtle as you like!
