  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 7 tablespoons softened butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans or a 13×9-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, eggs, oil, and softened butter. Mix with an electric mixer on low speed until just combined, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Pour the batter evenly into prepared pans.
  • Bake for 24-28 minutes for 8-inch pans, 22-27 minutes for a 9×13 pan, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
