For the Bread Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm water 110°F
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Cheese Filling:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup cream cheese softened
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs oregano, basil, thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Toppings:
- 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing
- Fresh parsley or basil chopped (for garnish)
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Step 2: Make the Cheese Filling
In a medium bowl, mix together the mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper until well combined. Set aside.
Step 3: Shape the Bread
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Transfer it to a floured surface.
Roll the dough into a rectangle (about 12×8 inches).
Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
Carefully roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, pinching the edges to seal.
Step 4: Bake the Bread
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the rolled dough seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Optional: Brush the top with melted butter for a golden finish.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Yeast Activation: Ensure your water is warm but not hot; excessive heat can kill the yeast.
Cheese Melting: Use cheese that melts well for the best texture.
Serving Temperature: For optimal flavor, serve the bread warm right out of the oven.
